Assumptions

“Don’t Make Assumptions. Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life.”- Don Miguel Ruiz

One of the top reasons people remain stuck in illusion is due to assumptions, it is a great hinderer of spiritual progress. I feel as though the reason people are so accustomed to making assumptions is because it is a habit which they have developed through time, something which more than likely, they either picked up from their parents and/or society. Breaking this habit is like any other habit which souls pick up in life, challenging, but nonetheless it is not impossible. It just requires a lot of persistence and practice, practice of a more ‘correct’ way of being and leading life. You must be vigilant of this habit, practice awareness in order to break it, break free from this pattern of life.

Once free, your mind will also be liberated, liberated to feel the presence of the here and now. You will experience the ability to live in truth and prosper from it. There will be no more, ‘I thought you said, or I thought we,’ type of relationships. No more creating stories in our heads about what we think, there will be no more ‘thinking’ things but rather living life, living in liberty, living in love, in truth. We have the great ability of breaking through this illusion, through the lies, the lies of others and the lies we tell ourselves. It is these lies, the ones we tell ourselves, that are of most importance to break, because we are responsible for our own lives and its outcome. Let’s be powerful, let’s be free, let’s be!

Check out a great book on making assumptions by Don Miguel Ruiz titled: The Four Agreements.
