Spiritual

What does it mean to be spiritual? Well, let’s break down the word spirit. According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary spirit is defined as; the force within a person that is believed to give the body life, energy, and power. Spiritual is defined as; of or relating to a person’s spirit. In this context I may conclude that everyone is spiritual, whether another individual’s actions are considered acceptable in society is another matter. But what I want to point out is that at the basis of all, spirit is present, it doesn’t matter what kind of person you are dealing with because spirit resides in all. There is not one single person who is not carrying out a plan on behalf of spirit, if we decide to judge someone’s actions as ‘good’ or ‘bad’ is, again, a matter of perspective.

What I want to get at is this- everyone has a purpose in life, there is a reason why ‘bad’ things happen and why there are ‘good’ things to help balance out this ‘bad’ stuff. We mustn’t forget that we live in an intelligent universe that is constantly balancing life and that the spirit is eternal, thus our role on earth is temporary.  In a past life I may have played the role of a murder, whereas in this life I may play the role of someone whose child gets murdered. When we are living the drama of life it is difficult to grasp these concepts because of the pain that we feel, the injustice, the anger, etc, however our suffering isn’t in vain, there is meaning to all of it, you may not see it now, but time has a way of revealing blessings hidden amidst the pain. I recommend a book by Viktor Frankl called ‘Man’s Search for Meaning’ to help you look at a different perspective on suffering.

You don’t have to go to church or follow any other type of religious organization in order to be what you were created to be-spirit. There is no ‘one way’ to ‘God’ because we are all connected to the eternal creator and thus connected to one another. If one person is suffering it will have a ripple affect simply because we are connected. With this in mind, I humbly ask that we learn to love one another, to put aside all ‘differences’ and learn to see one another as brothers and sisters in this drama called life and to leave judgment for the creator to deal with, let love reign supreme.
