What is your calling?

“Each of us has a unique part to play in the healing of the world.”-Marianne Williamson

I hadn’t realized it until I was talking to a friend about it but, I found my calling, what struck me was that I had finally arrived at my lifelong search and hadn’t even acknowledged it. It was as if it was the most natural thing in the world for me. She also noted that she hadn’t found her calling yet which made me remember that I have an 80 something year old acquaintance who still wonders what her calling is, so I feel fortunate that I have been able to find mine in this lifetime.

So what is my calling? I’m a healer, my bag of skills includes massage therapy and yoga, but that is just the beginning, I am slowly learning other healing modalities that will benefit the people that come to me. The best thing is that it’s all natural, no drugs from the pharmacies! It will all come from mother earth herself or your own natural abilities to heal from within.

What is your calling? Have you found it? If not, do what I did; keep searching until you find it. Tune into who you are at your root, what comes natural to you? What have you done since you were a kid that you hadn’t noticed you were good at? What do people compliment you on? What drives your passion? What infuriates you that you wish you could fix? Start from there, perhaps you may find it today, or maybe a year or two, whatever it is-keep searching.

  1. I really resonate to this post! I was lucky to find my calling pretty early in life in social work, as a therapist, teacher, and manager at a large faith based human service agency. I have actually written on this a number of times on my blog..though not recently…and it is a major theme in my book, The Call, an historical fantasy with a strong spiritual component that includes Lis, the protagonist’s struggle to determine what she should do with her life. So glad you posted on Senior Salan! I look forward to reading other posts. Jo
