Death is good

“Every one of us is going to die someday, so there is no use in being afraid of death. You don’t feel miserable at the prospect of losing consciousness of your body in sleep; you accept sleep as a state of freedom to look forward to. So is death; it is a state of rest, a pension from this life. There is nothing to fear. When death comes, laugh at it. Death is only an experience through which you are meant to learn a great lesson: you cannot die.”- Paramahansa Yogananda

Death is a part of life, it is normal, yet some humans have a difficult time dealing with it. Everyone grows up in different environments which thus molds their vision of death. For some, it has to do with their religious views; there are people who don’t believe in an afterlife, and that once the body is dead-they die too, end of the game. Then there are people who celebrate death, who see it as a time to be happy because their loved one has completed their cycle on earth and has moved on.

When I was a young girl I thought of death as an escape from my reality, I sought it-I did not fear it. As I matured and got into spirituality I saw it as a great experience to connect with God, to go back home to the source. And now I just see it as a transitory experience, going from one state of being to another. Facing this reality I am reminded that everything that I experience or may be stressed out about here on earth is temporary, that in time it will all pass and will not matter. I’ve often felt that this is my last life on earth which is why I find it easier than others to release myself from earthly attachments and to seek my higher bliss, it’s kind of like a ‘been there, done that’ kind of feeling.

My experiences have also show me a world beyond that of my naked eye, and so I am reminded that I am not this body, that I am a spirit soul living on earth and once my time is done here, I am freed from this body and move into another state of being, my original state-that of bliss.
